Our garden has been doing so well despite run-ins with stray cats, slugs, aphids, high-speed winds and hail. We’ve already been able to harvest a lot of sugar snap peas and the first of the arugula as you can see above. Our asparagus is growing like crazy too. The stalks grow like 4-5 inches a day sometimes. Sadly, this is only the first year so we won’t be able to eat any of the asparagus for at least another 2 years.
Our tomato and tomatillo plants have exploded as well (at least the ones Eunice planted…the ones Greg planted look a bit sad, though to give him credit, I think part of that has to do with how much sun the ones he planted gets).
I was so excited to see the first of the actual tomatillos and tomato flowers today. Can’t wait to make my first homegrown salsa verde.
Our sugar snaps continue to flower and produce peas. Pickle really likes to eat the peas when you’re not watching…sneaky dog.
Our fennel actually is starting to look like fennel…
and our corn continues to grow taller.
The first of the flowers have started to bloom. I’m not sure what the flower below is yet (any guesses??), so we’ll just have to wait and see.
Our lavender has started to bloom as well…lavender honey ice cream anyone?
